There is lot of controversy surrounding LimeWire and the capabilities it holds. Although LimeWire claims they are merely a tool, and that the intended use of that tool is to download uncopyrighted material only, millions are downloading and exchanging copyrighted media. On August 4, 2006 the Recording Industry Association of America sued LimeWire for making money off downloads that was unauthorized (http://www.answer.com/topic/limwire?cat=technology). LimeWire sued back claiming antitrust violations on September 25, 2006. It has been hard for anyone to get a conviction for LimeWre because there isn’t a central server that stores information about which files are being stored. LimeWire isn’t a website or software, simply individual computers talking to each other (http://www.betanew.com/article/RIAA_sues_LimeWire_Over_Piracy/1154722015).
