One reason I chose to repair my own VW was for cost. It saves a lot of money being able to do the work yourself. Women in care reapair is still a rarity, we don’t often see women who are into mechanics. I see this as one of the many ways women can gain more equality and independence. It was once unheard of for women to even purchase a home by themselves. I have confidence that I will be able to save up the money needed to purchace my rebuilt and engine and to install it with the use of manuals.
When looking online I found many resources available to help in auto repair, some directly targeted to women. This is a good change to see since many more women do live independently and should not have to depend on a man for auto repairs or always have to pay the outrageous costs of having a mechanic do the work. I recently learned how to change my own oil and have actually installed a brake drum in my VW. It is amazing the pride I felt when completing the work successfully myself.
